The goal of the SQL Server Hosting Toolkit is to enable a great experience around SQL Server in shared hosting environments.

Please be advised: The project has been posted several years ago and it is no longer supported by the SQL team at Microsoft. As such, there are no current plans to build on top of the previously published code and MSIs, and/or to fix defects associated with this project. The project consists of the Database Publishing Wizard and the Database Publishing Services (see details below), however the source code for the Database Publishing Wizard is not available on this site because the original code includes sources that are proprietary that we cannot share, in accordance with Microsoft policy. The tool is only available as an MSI. We apologize for this inconvenience.

The following components are available in this project:

For Hosting Customers
- The Database Publishing Wizard makes it easy to upload databases to hosters, or generate T-SQL from the objects and data in your database.
For Hosters
- The Database Publishing Services are a set of ASP.NET web services you can easily deploy to make it simple for your customers to deploy SQL Server databases into your environment.

Problem / Issue : There is something odd I came across when I run the script. The newline characters in the script were getting replaced with some junk characters so it was not executed well and was getting an error like this - Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'with'. If this statement is a common table expression, an xmlnamespaces clause ... Solution: I think this is due to the encoding of my SQL file but could not figure out and tried various encoding formats viz Unicode, UTF-8 etc. No luck with any of them. So, finally I just make my SQL Script file into .TXT file and everything run smoothly without any error! It took me a day to figure out about whats wrong with my script! I hope this may helpful to someone!

@HarryBob, I noticed the same. Always do a search and replace for 'END;' to 'END'. It is not only on views. Great product by the way, if you read the known issues and act to it, it works very well from 2005 to 2000.

has anyone else noticed that sometimes the script contains a semi colon at the end of a create view statement and sometimes it does not. This causes sql server 2000 to throw an error

open a command prompt from here C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Publishing\1.2 as the sqlpubwiz is not in the path.

I am using Database Publishing Wizard, but it is not working for me. When I select the initial option "Specify Server Information" I wrote: localhost, and it did not work. I lefte this box empty, it did not work. I wrote down the address of the site I want to publish (http://localhost: 8494/Database), it did not work too. Allways I get the error:An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider). What can I do to fix this problem?
