Can't use the Database Wizard because no matter w h a t I try I get an error when attempting to identify the source database in the wizard. I mean NOTHING works.

I have tried:

Specify server info: http://localhost:1212 and localhost and localhost:1212 and all I get is:

TITLE: Database Publishing Wizard

Failed to connect to server localhost:1212. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 53)

I have also tried by connection string:

DataSource=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename="C:\website1\App_Data\pubs.mdf";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;Database=ASPNETDB

And all I get is:

"The given connection string is invalid

Yes, the server is running on my local machine

Please help

Hi jforce -

A few things that might help you out:

1) The "http://localhost:1212" is most likely the location of your ASP.NET development server.
2) I believe your connection string is invalid. The keyword "Data Source" has a space between the two words which is invalid according to the documentation. Also, you do you need the "Database" keyword. For more information see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.data.sqlclient.sqlconnection.connectionstring.aspx
